Welcome to the Free Trade Alliance!
The Free Trade Alliance was created in 1994, upon the passage of NAFTA, to develop San Antonio as a competitive international trading center. At that time community leaders envisioned San Antonio facilitating trade throughout the region. Today Texas leads the United States in exports and our community has witnessed the development of Port San Antonio as a multi-modal port with foreign trade zone status, allowing cost effective distribution throughout North America. Facilitating global trade and investment, the City of San Antonio has three offices in Mexico and one in Japan, while the Alliance maintains a representative office in Beijing, China. These community resources provide a solid platform to the business community at home and abroad to further their global reach.
San Antonio enjoys a rich history and diverse culture. A diverse economy ranging from automotive manufacturing, biomedical, distribution and logistics, aerospace, information technology and tourism make our community a great place to live, work and play. San Antonio offers the lowest energy rates of the major cities in Texas and among the lowest in the nation. Home prices in San Antonio cost an average of 30% less than the national median. Due to these and other factors, many Fortune 500 companies now call San Antonio home, as do the four time champion NBA San Antonio Spurs.
We are a membership organization, made up of community partners and business leaders.
