Nominations Committee Seeking 2009 Board of Director Candidates

The 2008 Nominations Committee for the Free Trade Alliance Board of Directors is seeking qualified candidates to serve on the Board of Directors.  Directors serve a three year term.  Board members of the Free Trade Alliance are expected to:

1.       Maintain current membership in the Free Trade Alliance per section 5.02 of the by-laws.  Section 5.02 states that “Directors need not be residents of Texas.  However, Directors must either be individual members or representatives of corporate members.  Affiliate and student members are ineligible to serve as Directors of the corporation.”

2.       Attend four quarterly meetings of the Board of Directors.  Per section 5.12 of the by-laws “absence from two (2) consecutive meetings, without an excuse deemed valid and so recorded by the Board of Directors, may be construed as a resignation.”

3.       Commit to seeking out and securing new membership which can be beneficial to the furtherance of the mission of the Alliance.

4.       Commit to participate in a minimum of two (2) Alliance events through attendance or sponsorship annually.

5.       Contribute ideas, knowledge, and strategic vision to the organization in relation to our mission statement: To develop and enhance the international trade-related economic development of the San Antonio area through foreign investment, trade development and advocacy.

6.       Participate in at least one committee.   Committees currently focus on China, Latin America, Logistics, Outreach, Investment & Trade, Finance & Audit and Immigration.

The Nominations Committee is chaired by Ms. Victoria Garcia (Chair-elect of the Board).  The formal election will take place at the Annual Membership Meeting on December 8th.
