| In 1981, a trucking company named River City Delivery was established to satisfy a local need around San Antonio for dependable full-trailer deliveries of commercial freight. By 1983, this operation was being managed by two longtime trucking veterans, Don Flynt and Lee Roy Swope. By luck, they provided some office space to Philip Heintz, whose knowledge of retail sales had led him to found San Antonio Merchant Shippers. This company was designed to provide local companies significant savings in their freight expenditures by pooling smaller shipments into large volumes that major carriers would discount. These three men realized that by working together they could form a company that could both haul the freight and save their customers money. And so, Bee Trucking, Inc. was born. Trucks, trailers and the warehouses where Bee is located today were purchased. Throughout the 1980s and early 1990s, Bee Trucking was widely known as a retail clothing carrier operating throughout the southwest and southeast USA. And that was just the beginning. Using its expertise in on-time long-haul operations, Bee Trucking began expanding its customer base and area of operations. Today its fleet includes over 140 owned & leased tractors and 220 trailers picking up and delivering truckloads of commercial freight across the United States and Canada. The owners are still the same as in 1983, but they let their highly experienced executive management staff handle the day-to-day operation of the business. Bee Trucking looks forward to the future with excitement as it manages its growth with a debt-free balance sheet.
